Create a document for you group project that includes:

Your names

The title of your project

WHO: your project is for (the audience/users)

WHAT: your project is going to be. As specifically as you can at this point explain what the project is and what users will be able to do

WHY: This is two parts. Why do you want to do it, what are your goals as group members? And why would someone else want to use the project (what are the goals of your users, what will they get out of it)?

Save the document as a PDF file and email it to me. Make sure to include all of the group members’ emails. If you don’t have a program that lets you create PDF files then download this one. It lets you create a PDF from any file that you can print: http://www.pdfforge.org/products/pdfcreator (this is a Windows only program, if you have a MAC then you have this functionality built in.)

This homework is due on Monday, February 23.

I was supposed to post a homework assignment after the class on 2.11.09 and I never did – Strangely enough none of you emailed me to ask me for the homework;)

So I am going to post the homework now but I will make it much simpler than it was going to be. Because I also want you to do other homework this weekend regarding your group projects I am going to be flexible with the due date for this homework. However, this is still homework and it is still part of your grade.

Here is the homework assignment:

Create a movie that allows the users to drag two objects around the stage using the SharedObject data property. (we did this in class with one object)

When one person drags the object it should also move on the screens of the other people who are connected.

The two objects should be different visually (ie. not two blue circles) and move independently (you can move each one

separately)

This homework is due in two weeks on March 4 (however I suggest you do it earlier if you can).

Homework Due 2.11.9
Start with the chat file you worked on in class. This should alreay have: connection to FMS, create SharedObject (SO), send message using SO when the send_mc clip is pressed.

Add the following pieces of functionality
1. [Add a name dynamically to each message] Insert a new text field that is an input field and allows the user to write their name. When the message is sent add the text in that text field to the front of the message.
2. [Clear Message input] when message is sent clear the text field used to write the message
3. [Scroll Chat box] as messages come into the chat box scroll the text field so that you can always see the latest message.
4. [Send message on Enter key] when the user presses the enter key the message should be sent, and the message field should be cleared as well.

I won’t make it a graded part of the assignment this time but you should also make an effort to make your chat look OK. Keep things aligned, add some titles and stuff like that.

Here is a screencast on how to add the keyboard press to send a chat message.
